Information For Airspace Users
Who we are
Jedsy operates medical drone delivery services under authorization from the Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA). We conduct Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations in the Specific Category, under SAIL III (Specific Assurance and Integrity Level), in full compliance with the applicable regulations.
UAS Specs
Size: 35H x 290W x 240L cm
Weight: 21 kg max. gross take-off weight (MGTOW)
Regulatory Framework
REGULATION (EU) 2019/947, of 24 May 2019, on the rules and procedures for the operation of unmanned aircraft systems: Regulation EU
Special Category, under Sail III
Type of Operational Authorization (CH/DE/AT)
Switzerland
Opperational Authorization: CHE-OAT-JED20250205S-000
Article 22 (1) of the DETEC Ordinance on Special Category Aircraft (ADA; SR 748.941) in conjunction with Articles 5(1) - (4), 11 and 12 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947 of 24 May 2019 on the rules and procedures for the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Competent Authority: FOCA
Germany: DEU-CBO-LBA007560603/005
Austria: E-LFA909-39/02-25
Cross-border operations are conducted under Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2019/947.
Competent authority: Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, LBA (Germany), Austrocontrol (Austria)
Air-risk - Tactical mitigations
Guidelines:
- The unmanned aircraft shall always yield the right of way to all manned aircraft and other airborne vehicles.
- The operation of an unmanned aircraft in proximity to another aircraft in a manner that could create a collision hazard is strictly prohibited.
- A minimum separation of 1 km horizontally and 200 m vertically shall be maintained from any manned air traffic to ensure a "well clear" distance.
Conspicuity equipment of the UAS
The UAS is equipped with:
- FLARM and Remote ID for electronic visibility.
- Navigation lights to enhance visual detectability.
Detection Methods
Airspace awareness is supported through:
- Onboard systems such as ADS-B In, FLARM and Remote ID.
- Web-based tracking platforms, including Safesky, OGN and Burnair.
- Airspace observers, where required by operational conditions.
Command and Execution
All remote pilots undergo comprehensive theoretical and practical training, complemented by regular refresher sessions and flight proficiency checks. This ensures that each pilot is capable of responding effectively to potential airspace conflicts.
When another aircraft is detected within a 5 km radius, our pilots follow established safety procedures, including:
- Maintaining current operations (No action).
- Executing an emergency landing.
- Descending to the minimum altitude.
- Entering a loitering pattern (circular holding).
Air-risk - Strategic mitigations
For each operational route, a Hazard Identification procedure is conducted to identify all airspace users who may be affected by our drone operations. Identified parties are contacted to initiate a coordination process.
Goals of Coordination
The coordination process aims to:
- Confirm whether other airspace users operate within our operational area.
- Provide information on the nature of our operations, including operational volumes and flight schedules.
- Share the parameters of our operational authorization.
- Request information on their typical operations and their conspicuity equipment.
- Exchange contact information to allow requests for the postponement of our individual drone flights, e.g., for activities such as skydiving or autorotation training.
In Switzerland, our operations are also published on the DABS platform.
Airspace users may contact our pilots directly to request the postponement of individual flights:
+385 91 956 5459 (English-speaking; requests will be forwarded to a German-speaking representative if needed).
